Newport Beach Office Building Fire Caused by Cigarettes

Calling all business owners—do you know how long your business could survive if your building was damaged by fire? You don’t have to own the building to be affected by a fire, and being able to continue fulfilling your responsibilities to your clients will still be a priority.

And like the fire in Newport Beach yesterday, fires don’t just happen at manufacturing plants or factories. Thanks to a lit cigarette thrown in a nearby trash can, a Newport Beach office building was set on fire last night around 7 p.m. According to the Newport Beach Fire Department, who put out the large fire, the trash can caught fire from the cigarette, which then began to burn a nearby pile of wood scraps. Our Sympathies to the Victims of Hurricane Irene

Luckily, Hurricane Irene wasn’t all that the media hyped it up to be, but that doesn’t mean that residents of the Eastern Seaboard weren’t affected by the storm. The death toll is up to 24 and thousands are in shelters, plus over 4 million people are without power until further notice.

Vermont is suffering from the worst flooding they’ve seen in over a century—although the rain was only as bad as Tropical Storm Doria which hit on the same days in 1971, exactly 40 years ago, the only storm to have caused worse flooding was in 1903, which was simply called the Great Flood.
